Letters to the Editor From: jake This is Eric and Jake, two very opinionated young men and we have something very important to say to you as this election is now at an end..... Eric- You, my friend, are my hero. I come to this site daily and i am never disappointed. Please continue with this website and prepare for Satan's, I mean Senator Hillary Clinton, wonderful race in 2008. I will be able to vote then and will be happy to vote against her. Now, I have this friend named Kyle. He is a democrat. He doesn't really know why and I am asking you to give me some info. that would help me convert him to the not dark side. If you can, include the following: gay marriage, stem cell research/abortion, and overall Republicanism beliefs that have a nice twist of satire witch you are so gifted in doing. thank You. If you email me, email me at XXXXXXXXX. Eric, thank you for your kind words. I agree with you there is a high probability that Hillary Clinton will be a candidate for President in 2008. I do not want to see a President Hillary Clinton. You can not convert someone from being a left leaning liberal to a moderate or right leaning conservative. This is a process that happens from the inside out, not the outside in. You can, however, help the process of education. Right now your friend is bombarded by liberal controlled media. The only media outlet that is fair to Republicans is the Fox News Channel. They seem to lean a little to the Right but that is because they are fair, not biased. Expose your friend to Fox News. Let him see that there are well-thought, informed people who are broadcasting news that does not agree with the liberal media. Besides, it is good TV. There is also a book you can buy. The book has a title that makes it sound like a humor book, but it is not. Take a look at, "How To Talk To A Liberal, If You Must" by Ann Coulter. Ann is the author of the best sellers, Slander and Treason. You should also not confuse the different versions of conservative. The Religious Right, the Libertarian Right (they are more conservative than Republicans but less religious), Moderate Republicans and Goldwater Republicans are just a few variations. There are many more. These groups tend to disagree with each other, which is why they are separate groups. This is good for the conservative movement in America. It gives diversity to a plethora of ideas which makes us all stronger. It also means that many conservatives will disagree with your views about gays, stem cell research, etc. Remember that Mrs. Reagan disagrees with your views on stem cell research. You can't get more Republican than Mrs. Reagan. You should also know that there are a lot of gay Republicans. They form a group called the Log Cabin Republicans. They disagree with your opinion on being gay. Having said all that, what makes a conservative a conservative? Let's remove all of the platforms and concentrate on the core idea. We won't talk about morals or religion, just the core values that makes someone a true blue conservative. When you remove everything else, the definition of a conservative core belief is easy to state. It is: A conservative is someone who wants government to protect them from forces for which they could otherwise not protect themselves, while in all other things keeping hands off. A liberal wants the government to protect them and take care of them from everything, including themselves. Conservatives tend to describe liberal governments as smothering. Finally, you need to be careful in assuming that all conservatives hold the same opinion as you on issues such as gay marriage, stem cell research and abortion. All conservatives do not have the same opinion on these issues. Many conservatives believe that these are moral issues and as such a priviate concern between them and their God. Not a matter for public debate or govermental enforcement. Jake- Viva Bush, and i hate abortionist. I and I think that Barbara Boxer should die and burn, but not necessarily in that order. Thank you. Jake, I don't even know who Barbara Boxer is. I had to Google her to find out. I guess in the big picture she just is not that important, or I would have heard of her. More than wishing the people you hate harm, you should wish them obscurity. In the matter of Barbara Boxer, outside of her little area she has already obtained this goal. "For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the powers, and the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness." I have a Ph.D. in religion, so when I read the words of Scripture I look hard for the inner meaning. It also means that I tend to talk too much. Grin. The way I understand Ephesians 6:12 is that we are suppose to fight against the powers of darkness in ourselves. If everyone fought the darkeness in themselves, then good would rule. That is why it states, "we are not contending against flesh and blood". The rulers of our own personal world is outselves. It is good for you to hate the actions of others that you find repugnent, but do not hate the person. For if you do, then you will hate yourself. The Editor |
